Thunder Snow Storm

March came in like a lion!! Really awesome sight!! Thunder and lighting, with heavy snow!! (8:30 PM) An unusual experience for the South. I understand from the TV news that Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee were also hit hard prior to the Carolinas. ~~~~ P.S. (9 PM) Four inches on the sidewalk in front of my apartment. ~~~~~ P.S.S. 3/02/09 (9:30 AM) Officially seven inches of snow for Shelby. I measured six-&-one-half, at 7 AM, on the sidewalk outside my apartment--and 29 degrees. However, by 8 AM it had "compacted" to only four inches. Officially, nearby Kings Mountain had nine inches. Of major interest, perhaps, twenty-two miles of southbound Interstate-85 was closed for over ten hours during the night (snow and traffic accidents). Many of the stranded motorist' were brought to shelters here in Shelby. Furthermore, at this hour (according to TV coverage), over 185,000 customers (Charlotte and surrounding counties) are without electricity. ~~~~ P.S.S.S. 3/02/09 (6:45 PM) We made the NBC-TV Evening News with Brian Williams!!
