Green Tea Catechins Help Promote Loss of Belly Fat, Study Reveals

By Mike Adams, January 26, 2009 Key concepts: Green tea, Fat loss and Abdominal fat

New research published in the Journal of Nutrition reveals that consuming green tea along with three hours of exercise a week results in accelerate loss of body fat around the abdominal region compared to exercise alone.

Read the entire article at Natural News. Worth noting:

Green tea is also well known to help prevent breast cancer, prostate cancer and Alzheimer's disease, by the way. Beware of cheap sources of green tea from China, most of which are contaminated with dangerous levels of fluoride.

I'm still "under the weather." I speculate that I might have been a lot sicker if I had not been taking Max nutritional supplements. Read about MaxGXL, MaxWLX and N-Fuze at my web site.

Paper or plastic?

I'm posting a short message because my itchy, burning, watery, eyes limit my time in front of the computer.

Paper or plastic? As an enlightened Biter, you can say “Neither!” Show off your light-green, sassy style in the checkout line with our custom designed Biter Bags. Made of biodegradable but durable jute (coated with recycled plastic for easy cleaning), these bags will tote your groceries, gym clothes, and farmer’s market finds in true eco-style. Buy a few to keep in the trunk of your car or close to the door so you’re ready for any last-minute errands.

Why care?

Worldwide, more than one million plastic bags are used every minute. In the United States, about 12 million barrels of oil and 14 million trees go to producing plastic and paper bags each year. Each year, about 4 billion plastic bags end up as litter. Just one acre of jute consumes over 13,228 pounds of CO2. Jute was grown in India and is Fair Trade Certified. Bags are designed in the USA. $12 each, plus $3.95 for shipping and handling within the U.S.

Check their website for further details. I'm listing this message on my blog because I'm super-sensitive about plastic bags!! (So is San Francisco!!) Personally, I have several colorful tote bags that I carry into the market so I don't have to use their plastic bags. If I forget... then I neatly bag the bags and return them to a recycling center. My colorful tote bags came from a Thrift Shop and cost less than a dollar each. We don't have to pay $16. but if we can afford it, it makes a nice statement.

Vitamin Waters: The Unhealthy Truth

My time at the computer has been seriously curtailed. I do not have an answer to my annoying health problem: allergy, asthma, cold...? Strangling cough and itchy eyes have brought me to a standstill. Today I direct you to valuable information at LifeScript.com . Also see my 12/15/2008 blog.

"Today’s waters are touted as vitamin-enriched super-drinks. So what’s the truth? Can they improve your health? We separate the facts from phony pitches...."

For the cost of a bottle of so-called vitamin water, you could have a daily dose of Max N-Fuze and enjoy a superior nutritional supplement.

I'd Pick More Daisies

I'm sick (allergies, asthma, cold or flu??) and do not have the energy to post an interesting, valuable-information (long?) article about health and nutrition. Lying quietly on my bed (because I cough less when I'm flat on my back) I saw a very, very old quote (in a clear plastic frame, on the bookcase) and I share it with you now. Pretend that you are enjoying a cup of Good Earth (brand) all natural Chai vanilla decaf tea with me?!?!

"If I had my life to live over, I'd try to make more mistakes next time. I would limber up. I would be sillier than I have been this trip. I know of very few things I would take seriously. I would be crazier. I would be less hygienic. I would climb more mountains, swim more rivers and watch more sunsets. I would eat more ice cream and less beans. I would have more active troubles and fewer imaginary ones. You see, I am one of those people who lives life prophylactically and sensibly and sanely, hour after hour, day after day. Oh, I have had my moments, and if I had it to do over again, I'd have more of them. In fact, I'd try to have nothing else. Just moments, one after another, instead of living so many years ahead each day. I have been one of those people who never go anywhere without a thermometer, a hot-water bottle, a gargle, a raincoat and a parachute. [Well, not really!!] If I had it to do over again, I would go places and do things and travel lighter than I have. If I had my life to live over, I would start barefooted earlier in the spring and stay that way later in the fall. I would play hooky more. I wouldn't make such good grades except by accident. I would ride on more merry-go-rounds. I'd pick more daisies." <> No author is listed. The parchment paper it is printed on is very fragile and crumbling around the edges. Today, I needed this re-reminder because it has been a long time since I picked daisies!! <>

OK, OK, for your amusement, here is the better known poem adopted by the Red Hat Society.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Warning - When I Am an Old Woman I Shall Wear Purple
By Jenny Joseph

When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple with a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.

And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves and satin candles, and say we've no money for butter.

I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired and gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells and run my stick along the public railings and make up for the sobriety of my youth.

I shall go out in my slippers in the rain and pick the flowers in other people's gardens and learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat and eat three pounds of sausages at a go or only bread and pickles for a week and hoard pens and pencils and beer nuts and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry and pay our rent and not swear in the street and set a good example for the children.

We must have friends to dinner and read the papers. But maybe I ought to practice a little now? So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised

When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Red Hat Society began as a result of a few women deciding to greet middle age with verve, humor, and elan. We believe silliness is the comedy relief of life, and, since we are all in it together, we might as well join red-gloved hands and go for the gusto together. Underneath the frivolity, we share a bond of affection, forged by common life experiences and a genuine enthusiasm for wherever life takes us next.

Laus Deo!

This came to my attention as an e-mail. The words were inscribed in beautiful calligraphy; the photographs were huge!! In a nondescript form, I share this message with you.

~~~~~~~~~~~
One detail that is never mentioned is that in Washington, D.C. there can never be a building of greater height than the Washington Monument.
With all the uproar about removing the ten commandments, etc., this is worth a moment or two of your time. I was not aware of this amazing historical information.
On the aluminum cap, atop the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C., are displayed two words: Laus Deo.
No one can see these words. In fact, most visitors to the monument are totally unaware they are even there and for that matter, probably couldn't care less.
Once you know Laus Deo's history, you will want to share this with everyone you know. These words have been there for many years; they are 555 feet, 5.125 inches high, perched atop the monument, facing skyward to the Father of our nation, overlooking the 69 square miles which comprise the District of Columbia, capital of the United States of America
Laus Deo! Two seemingly insignificant, unnoticed words. Out of sight and, one might think, out of mind, but very meaningfully placed at the highest point over what is the most powerful city in the most successful nation in the world.
So, what do those two words, in Latin, composed of just four syllables and only seven letters, possibly mean? Very simply, they say 'Praise be to God!'
Though construction of this giant obelisk began in 1848, when James Polk was President of the United States, it was not until 1888 that the monument was inaugurated and opened to the public. It took twenty-five years to finally cap the memorial with a tribute to the Father of our nation, Laus Deo. 'Praise be to God!'
From atop this magnificent granite and marble structure, visitors may take in the beautiful panoramic view of the city with its division into four major segments. From that vantage point, one can also easily see the original plan of the designer, Pierre Charles l'Enfant. A perfect cross imposed upon the landscape, with the White House to the north. The Jefferson Memorial is to the south, the Capitol to the east and the Lincoln Memorial to the west.
A cross you ask? Why a cross? What about separation of church and state? Yes, a cross; separation of church and state was not, is not, in the Constitution. So, read on. How interesting and, no doubt, intended to carry a profound meaning for those who bother to notice.
Praise be to God! Within the monument itself are 898 steps and 50 landings. As one climbs the steps and pauses at the landings the memorial stones share a message.
On the 12th Landing is a prayer offered by the City of Baltimore; on the 20th is a memorial presented by some Chinese Christians; on the 24th a presentation made by Sunday School children from New York and Philadelphia quoting Proverbs 10:7, Luke 18:16 and Proverbs 22:6. Praise be to God!
When the cornerstone of the Washington Monument was laid on July 4th, 1848 deposited within it were many items including the Holy Bible presented by the Bible Society. Praise be to God! Such was the discipline, the moral direction, and the spiritual mood given by the founder and first President of our unique democracy 'One Nation, Under God.'
I am awed by Washington's prayer for America. Have you ever read it? Well, now is your unique opportunity, so read on!
'Almighty God; We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy protection; that Thou wilt incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government; and entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow citizens of the United States at large. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication, we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.'
Laus Deo!
When one stops to observe the inscriptions found in public places all over our nation's capitol, he or she will easily find the signature of God, as it is unmistakably inscribed everywhere you look. You may forget the width and height of 'Laus Deo', its location, or the architects but no one who reads this will be able to forget its meaning, or these words: 'Unless the Lord builds the house its builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.' (Psalm 127: 1)
It is hoped you will send this to every child you know; to every sister, brother, father, mother or friend. They will not find offense, because you have given them a lesson in history that they probably never learned in school. With that, be not ashamed, or afraid, but have pity on those who will never see this.
I [Lorraine] echo the words in the above paragraph. Share this message with everyone you know. Laus Deo! Praise be to God!!
Broccoli and potato soup
Here's a super simple and delicious recipe for broccoli and potato soup:
http://drbenkim.com/recipesbroccolipotatosoup.html
If you want to get more broccoli into your family's meals but have some members who don't do well with visible stems and florets, this recipe is definitely worth a shot - I have yet to meet someone who hasn't loved it.
Above copied from Dr. Ben Kim's web site. I couldn't spend the day in front of the computer!! I drove thirty miles to Sam's Club for fruit and veggies. Day before yesterday I spent hours in front of the television watching the Inauguration, parade, and festivities. Yesterday I did some cleaning. Tomorrow I'll get back to my network marketing business!!
Vegetarian Author John Robbins Financially Hit Hard by Madoff Ponzi Scheme Collapse
Tuesday, January 20, 2009
by: Mike Adams, NaturalNews Editor
Key concepts: Health, John Robbins and Vegetarian
(NaturalNews) The $50 billion Ponzi scheme operated by Wall Street criminal Bernie Madoff has reportedly struck a victim in the vegetarian foods community: John Robbins, author of Diet For A New America and other popular food culture books has been reportedly wiped out.
A letter on VegSource.com (http://www.vegsource.com/articles2/robbins_help.htm) asks readers to send money to Robbins and help him and his wife pay their mortgage, saying "To economize, the family has rented out every extra room in their house and every spare space on their property. Still, it is not clear if they will be able to pay their mortgage or keep the property they share with their son, his wife and their two grandsons. Both Michelle and Deo have taken on part time jobs, and Deo has also taken over the formerly paid for day care for their special needs grandchildren."
I'm not sure what to make of all this, actually. Robbins is a legend in the health food movement, and I tremendously admire and respect his work. He's a hugely inspiring, uplifting individual who should probably be put in charge of the USDA in my opinion.
I'm not sure that his investment loss rises to the level of a grassroots call for action, however. What's essentially happening here, folks, is that the vegetarian community is being asked by VegSource.com to raise bailout money to reimburse Robbins for personal investment losses.
If Robbins were having his freedom or his health threatened, that would be different. I'd be the first to jump to his aid and ask for grassroots donations. I'd do the same for any number of other visionary leaders of the health revolution movement. But should the natural health community members really be asked to raise bailout money for one individual (even a visionary leader) that got taken by Wall Street?
You can voice your opinion [at Natural News.com] by posting in the comment section. If you wish to send a donation to support Robbins, you can send it to John Robbins, c/o Patti Breitman, 12 Rally Court, Fairfax, CA 94930. Make the check out to John Robbins.
If Robbins were in danger of having his freedom threatened (if he were arrested by the FTC, for example), or if his health were in jeopardy, I would be among the first to jump to his aid. But is it really appropriate to call for a grassroots fundraising campaign to reimburse a celebrity author for riches they lost due to a bad or unlucky investment decision?
Robbins is in no way starving, after all. And the money he lost is likely a sizable fortune that most health-conscious consumers could never hope to save in a lifetime. Robbins is simply experiencing the same financial disaster that has befallen countless other Americans with far poorer prospects for earning it back.
In fact, what Madoff did to Robbins, the Fed is doing to everybody!
None of us are going to escape this financial implosion unscathed. We would all do well to focus on what's important in life: Health, family, spirituality and purpose. And in that department, Robbins is steeped in great riches.
By the way, just so you know I'm not adhering to some sort of double standard here, I'm currently living on less than $1,000 a month in expenses. That's because I sold my house in 2006 (before the crash), and I recently moved to a small, simple house with a single-car garage, donating away entire truckloads of belongings I had been clinging to for years. It was a spiritually freeing experience, and I've found so much greater happiness living a simple, low-cost life than I ever experienced when I used to live in a large home filled with stuff. I've come to realize that the bigger your house, the poorer you really are because your stuff owns you!
I have no debt, no mortgage and virtually no furniture other than a bed, a couch and a computer desk. I own no jewelry (other than a wedding ring) and no fancy decorations. I drive a Toyota and my wife and I make most of our own food at home, using simple, low-cost ingredients. This transformation has occurred in the last two years. In 2006, for example, I lived in a magnificent home with an expensive mortgage and lots of nice stuff. I gave all that up and found much greater happiness and a lot less stress living a simple, low-cost lifestyle that's 100% free from debt and credit card bills.
Robbins gets that. He's the kind of transformative individual that, if forced to sell his house and live in a tent, would likely manage to find great inspiration in it. He'd write his next bestselling book based on the spiritual enlightenment gleaned from the situation, and the royalties on that book would earn him new financial riches that could once again pay the mortgage.
Losing money sucks. Losing ALL your money sucks even worse. But Robbins has not lost his health, his incredible mental capacity, his family, his freedom or his remarkable ability to write bestselling books and earn his way back to significant riches.
In other words, Robbins' worst day is better than the best days of many people. And while sending a check to Robbins right now is a wonderful expression of human compassion for someone who lost a fortune, I can think of a long list of other people in far more devastating circumstances who need the money more. I also believe Robbins likely agrees with everything I'm saying in this article, and it's worth noting that he himself never asked anybody for financial assistance. This is being done on his behalf by VegSource.com, most likely without his knowledge or permission.
This is a fascinating moral issue that I think deserves discussion among the natural health community. The question is: What should be the criteria for calling for a grassroots campaign to raise money for an individual or a cause?
Personally, I do not believe that an individual's private financial investment decisions, no matter how bad the outcome, rise to a level that should trigger a call for a grassroots fundraising campaign from the health-conscious community. You may disagree, and that's fine. If you do disagree, please share your own process for deciding where to donate money. Should donations be based on need? Celebrity status? Popularity? Emotional connection? If Al Gore lost his fortune on Wall Street, would you donate money to Al Gore? I don't mean these questions to be satirical in any way. They are serious, mindful questions asked here with all sincerity.
Obese Americans now outweigh the merely overweight
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The number of obese American adults outweighs the number of those who are merely overweight, according to the latest statistics from the federal government.
Numbers posted by the National Center for Health Statistics show that more than 34 percent of Americans are obese, compared to 32.7 percent who are overweight. It said just under 6 percent are "extremely" obese.
"More than one-third of adults, or over 72 million people, were obese in 2005-2006, the NCHS said in its report.
The numbers are based on a survey of 4,356 adults over the age of 20 who take part in a regular government survey of health, said the NCHS, which is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The figures come from the 2005-2006 survey and are the most current available.
"During the physical examination, conducted in mobile examination centers, height and weight were measured as part of a more comprehensive set of body measurements," the NCHS report said.
"Although the prevalence of obesity has more than doubled since 1980, the prevalence of overweight has remained stable over the same time period," it said.
Obesity and overweight are calculated using a formula called body mass index. BMI is equal to weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared. Someone with a BMI of 25 to 29 is classified as overweight, 30 to 40 counts as obese and people with BMIs of 40 or more are morbidly obese.
A person 5 feet 5 inches tall becomes overweight at 150 pounds (68 kg) and obese at 180 pounds (82 kg). The U.S. National Institutes of Health has an online BMI calculator at www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/.
In the 1988-1994 surveys, 33 percent of Americans were overweight, 22.9 percent were obese and 2.9 percent were morbidly obese. The numbers have edged up steadily since.
Being overweight or obese raises the risk of heart disease, diabetes, some cancers, arthritis and other conditions.
In May, the CDC reported that 32 percent of U.S. children fit the definition of being overweight, 16 percent were obese and 11 percent were extremely obese.
Childhood and adult obesity has emerged as a growing problem not only in the United States but also in many countries around the world.
I [Lorraine] deleted a lot of the e-mail message but suggest you visit the web sites.
Wishing you and your loved ones a good week ahead,
Ben Kim
Likewise, I [Lorraine] wish you and your loved ones a good week ahead. And, FYI, I'm having a slice of whole grain bread with natural peanut butter (with a cup of organic green tea). Moments ago the TV news was warning consumers not to buy peanut butter because of salmonella contamination. I thought "Peanut butter sounds good!" and I headed to the pantry. I try to eat wholesome food, and I daily take the nutritional supplement Max N-Fuze. Later today I'll have a large salad with organic baby spring mix (and Spectrum Naturals [brand name] Italian Balsamic Vinegar and Red Island Australia [brand name] cold pressed extra virgin Olive Oil). Later in the day I may enjoy left-over delicious homemade soup full of celery, carrots, turnips, rutabagas, potatoes, cabbage, onions, and garlic. (Information about the supplements I take can be found at my web site http://seniorsecurity.maxtrax4u.com/ .)
Baby's Hug
I received the following as an e-mail, from a longtime friend; not my story, not my family. IMHO, this is very inspirational, and worth sharing on a very cold, gray Sunday afternoon.
Baby's Hug ~
We were the only family with children in the restaurant. I sat Erik in a high chair and noticed everyone was quietly sitting and talking. Suddenly, Erik squealed with glee and said, 'Hi.' He pounded his fat baby hands on the high chair tray. His eyes were crinkled in laughter and his mouth was bared in a toothless grin, as he riggled and giggled with merriment.
I looked around and saw the source of his merriment. It was a man whose pants were baggy with a zipper at half-mast and his toes poked out of would-be shoes. His shirt was dirty and his hair was uncombed and unwashed. His whiskers were too short to be called a beard and his nose was so varicose it looked like a road map.
We were too far from him to smell, but I was sure he smelled. His hands waved and flapped on loose wrists. 'Hi there, baby; hi there, big boy. I see ya, buster,' the man said to Erik.
My husband and I exchanged looks, 'What do we do?'
Erik continued to laugh and answer, 'Hi.'
Everyone in the restaurant noticed and looked at us and then at the man. The old geezer was creating a nuisance with my beautiful baby. Our meal came and the man began shouting from across the room, 'Do ya patty cake? Do you know peek-a-boo? Hey, look, he knows peek- a-boo.'
Nobody thought the old man was cute. He was obviously drunk.
My husband and I were embarrassed. We ate in silence; all except for Erik, who was running through his repertoire for the admiring skid-row bum, who in turn, reciprocated with his cute comments.
We finally got through the meal and headed for the door. My husband went to pay the check and told me to meet him in the parking lot. The old man sat poised between me and the door. 'Lord, just let me out of here before he speaks to me or Erik,' I prayed. As I drew closer to the man, I turned my back trying to sidestep him and avoid any air he might be breathing. As I did, Erik leaned over my arm, reaching with both arms in a baby's 'pick-me-up' position. Before I could stop him, Erik had propelled himself from my arms to the man.
Suddenly a very old smelly man and a very young baby consummated their love and kinship. Erik in an act of total trust, love, and submission laid his tiny head upon the man's ragged shoulder. The man's eyes closed, and I saw tears hover beneath his lashes. His aged hands full of grime, pain, and hard labor, cradled my baby's bottom and stroked his back. No two beings have ever loved so deeply for so short a time.
I stood awestruck. The old man rocked and cradled Erik in his arms and his eyes opened and set squarely on mine. He said in a firm commanding voice, 'You take care of this baby.'
Somehow I managed, 'I will,' from a throat that contained a stone.
He pried Erik from his chest, lovingly and longingly, as though he were in pain. I received my baby, and the man said, 'God bless you, ma'am, you've given me my Christmas gift.'
I said nothing more than a muttered thanks. With Erik in my arms, I ran for the car. My husband was wondering why I was crying and holding Erik so tightly, and why I was saying, 'My God, my God, forgive me.'
I had just witnessed Christ's love shown through the innocence of a tiny child who saw no sin, who made no judgment; a child who saw a soul, and a mother who saw a suit of clothes. I was a Christian who was blind, holding a child who was not. I felt it was God asking, 'Are you willing to share your son for a moment?' when He shared His for all eternity.
The ragged old man, unwittingly, had reminded me, 'To enter the Kingdom of God , we must become as little children.'
If this has blessed you, please bless others by sending it on. Sometimes, it takes a child to remind us of what is really important. We must always remember who we are, where we came from and, most importantly, how we feel about others. The clothes on your back or the car that you drive or the house that you live in does not define you at all; it is how you treat your fellow man that identifies who you are.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There's so much more that could be speculated about this story. Where did the old man live? A shelter--or under a bridge? Did someone buy his meal? Remember the Bible story of "the Good Samaritan" who administered first aid, and paid for lodging and food? Even as we experience the "hard times" of a Recession (or Depression), we are so blessed to live in the United States of America!! There's a little chorus that goes: "Count your blessings, name them one by one; count your blessings, see what God has done. C-o-u-n-t your b-l-e-s-s-i-n-g-s, name them --o-n-e----b-y----o-n-e; count your many b-l-e-s-s-i-n-g-s, see what God has done!!"

Bum Your Way to the Top of the Internet Marketing Industry

I confess that my blog is a method of promoting my nutritional supplement business. I'm seeking guidance from many sources on the Internet. Earlier today, I found the following article from Work From Home Review, written 1/08/09 by Robert Corum. Unbeknown to me, I was doing some of the appropriate things. You, the reader, may not find this interesting but I publish it in hopes the article, and the web site, will be beneficial. Truthfully, I will need to revisit the site and "digest" more of his information.

Bum marketing is a strategy that just about anyone can use to promote their products to every corner of the Internet. It is a proven marketing technique that takes almost no effort on your part, just a little time and creativity.

If you’re already an experienced writer, you will have no problem getting this marketing strategy up and running to your advantage. Even inexperienced entrepreneurs who just enjoy writing in their spare time will find success with bum marketing. However, if you have a tendency to cringe at the thought of organizing your ideas into introduction, body, and conclusion paragraphs, this is something you may want to skip over.

Unlike most other writing formats, the key to bum marketing is quantity, not quality. You need to quickly choose an affiliate product to write about and promote, and then generate a wealth of articles, regardless of how innovative or original they may be. Just be sure to place a link to your affiliate product’s website in your Bio Box so that your readers can easily navigate to your affiliate’s webpage.

The concept of bum marketing involves a lot, and I mean A LOT, of writing. Your goal is to create as many articles about your affiliate product as you can and then spread them out across the Internet so that your writing reaches as many viewers as possible. The more people you reach, the more likely all of those people are to click on your affiliate link and increase your commission income.

There are so many ways to produce an article, although many writers fall back on the basic introduction, body, and conclusion paragraphs format. Here are some ways to make your articles a bit more interesting without having to exhaust all of your effort:

• Write a FAQ.
This simple format requires you to choose the top three to five most commonly asked questions from consumers about your particular affiliate product. State these questions and provide thorough answers, and you will have an effective and easy-to-read article ready for publication.

• Write a How-To.
Because you are marketing a product for your affiliate, you will want to use your how-to article to tease your readers into finding out more from your affiliate’s website. You may want to walk your readers step by step through a particular situation, and then tell them to visit the affiliate website to learn the final steps.

• Give a Few Tips.
This type of article offers your readers tips, tricks, and secrets to doing something better. For example, you may write an article called, “Six Tricks to Healthier Skin,” or “The Secrets of Work-from-Home Success.” Whatever tips you choose to provide, they should directly relate to your affiliate product, and you should convince your reader to find out even more insider information by visiting their website.

• Review Your Affiliate Product.
You can write this article in the same style and format as a book or movie review. Provide your reader with your own personal experience in regards to your affiliate’s product, and let them know just how much success you had with it.

• Write a Classified Ad.
This format does not really resemble an article at all. However, it is still very effective. All you have to do is write up a few short and descriptive sentences about your affiliate product that will compel your readers to visit its website.

Think of how many articles you could come up with in just one hour using all of these formats! Bum marketing is the key to easily getting the word out about your affiliate product so that you can profit from a rewarding commission.

10 Tips for the Suddenly Unemployed

Author Jennifer Kushell (Copied in total from 1/15/09 Beliefnet.)

For the tens of thousands who have lost their jobs, and the millions of others fearing for the jobs they still have, YSN.com's Jennifer Kushell shares these tips to survive the initial shock -- and bounce back like a star.

Breathe. Stay Calm.
The worst decisions are made under pressure, stress, or in a state of fear. Don't allow yourself to be rash or irrational; keep your wits about you and commit to making it through this in one piece. Get a sense for what this layoff really means to you and what the real repercussions will be.

Assess your safety nets: What are your back-up plans? (All the way down to spending time with the folks in your worst case financial scenario.) Hopefully you've done enough to guard against that, and if so, take some solace in the fact that you're prepared to weather a little uncertainty.

Look at This As an Opportunity.
You know what they always say, "It's not what happens to you, but what you do about it." That might not be what you want to hear right now, but think about it: This sudden change could have a silver lining -- so commit yourself to finding it. Take some time for yourself, even just a few quiet hours alone and reflect on all the things you truly liked and disliked about your job.

What would you have done differently? Were you there because you had to be, or because you wanted to be? Ask yourself how you can now take the next step learning from your past experience. Is there a chance to take a step up? Or to change industries or careers entirely if you weren't as happy as you wanted to be? So many times, abrupt changes like this are exactly what people need to get out of a rut and move on to something they'd really love to be doing.

Audit Your Online Identity.
Start paying close attention to your reputation management, to the platform that you've built for yourself online (if any) and to what new people will perceive about you when they google you. If you don't like what you see online, or want to take control of that first impression you're giving off, build a professional identity you can be proud of with a PROJO - your professional mojo.

It's a next-generation resume/portfolio that you can share with contacts, add to/promote in your signature line, build out and keep up to date with your latest accomplishments to ensure that when someone searches for you, they find the "goods" on you, but the good!

Stay Connected to Your Network.
You probably have a lot more friends, colleagues and supporters than you realize. Survey your address books, PDA, business card files and social networks to see who's really in your inner circle and wider network and who might be able to help lead you to some new prospective opportunities. Talk to friends and family and see who they know.

Then start reaching out to catch up with everyone you can. Befriend old friends online, shoot out a bunch of emails, even invite a few for coffee or drinks. Start talking to everyone you can! Ask your contacts who else you should be talking to, then reach out to them. Update your online profiles with the latest news and let people know that you're actively exploring your options. This is not the time to hide out and wallow. Just make sure you force yourself to smile and at least appear to have a positive outlook for the future! Repeat the mantra to yourself: "onward and upward!"...until you believe it.

Assess Your Financial Situation.
The first serious thing you need to do once you have the ability to think calmly and rationally (see #1) is to figure out the true state of your financial affairs. If you can, sit down with a financial consultant who will know how to ask you the right questions to get a proper assessment. Take a very careful look at any severance (if you're lucky), benefits packages (like insurance policies, 401ks, etc.) that you may be able to "roll over" from your old company's plan. (Take care of this right away too!)

Ride the Coat Tails of Senior Execs.
If you've done a good job of befriending and staying tight with your bosses and other senior management, it might just pay off in real dividends now. Keep in close contact with them!!!

The more connected they are, the faster they will probably find their next great opportunities and look to set themselves up for success in their new spot. When that happens, seasoned execs take quick steps to surround themselves with people they know and trust. They build teams from people they know -- and that could include you! Make it known that you're up for the new adventure if you are.

Use Your Leverage.
What can you do to leverage the experience you've had so far and the skills you've been building? What do you know that others want to? (Besides proprietary trade secrets!) How can you use what you've learned to your benefit and to others?

You don't have to play hardball or let your ego run wild to put your experience and expertise to work for you in a positive and proactive way. A great way to do this, and make some quick money, is to do some consulting work. Taking a few projects on will keep you in the game and buy you time to figure out your next move. Who knows, you might actually like it so much you decide to make it your new business!

Open Yourself Up to New Opportunities.
Employment prospects or ideas you hear about from friends and relatives might not sound quite right at first, but give them a chance to explain -- and yourself a chance to explore a bit. Don't limit your attention to a very narrow set of options right after a layoff. Try to imagine yourself working in a whole new scenario and consider whether you might find happiness in some other industry or way than you'd previously envisioned. Ask a bunch of questions...even just to humor yourself.

You might actually learn something you never expected or discover a connection to something that does actually fit you.

Stay Healthy...Or Make This Your Big Chance to GET Healthy.
Whether you've been really diligent about taking care of yourself while employed or have totally forgotten what an athletic shoe feels like on your foot, make your health a major priority now.

Take the time to sleep, get some fresh air, walk, run, do some yoga -- whatever makes you feel your best. The endorphins will help a lot in bringing a smile and positive outlook to your face. You'll also project more confidence as you go out to pursue other opportunities. You never know who you'll meet along that run either!

Use This As Preparation for the Next Big Shake-up in Your Life.
Right now this might seem like the end of the world, but the good news is that if you can weather this storm, you'll only be better prepared for the next one. Though we'd like to say this will never happen again, the truth is that life is a cycle of ups and downs, and preparation is the key to surviving it all.

If you are ready to look at the big picture, listen to our Secrets of the Young & Successful podcast series and create the life you've always dreamed about -- no better time than the present! You can also come and talk to others about what's happening to you in our discussion forum. You never know where the next great idea or opportunity is waiting...

Good luck!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I [Lorraine] had to reassess my options in 2008. Who would want to hire a "senior citizen" when there are thousands of younger people looking for a job?? I have many skills (secretarial, computer, writer, proofreader, publisher, researcher, ...) but the potential employer looks at the birth date on my resume. So I've used my talents to build a network marketing business. Computer, writing and publishing skills used to prepare this "blog." Research skills used to search the Internet. With "age" comes patience so I've spent hours reading helpful material, and hours listening to webinars. With the exception of depression over the holidays, I've used the last several months to take care of my health. Without even reading the above article (or similar...) I was doing a lot of the things suggested above. Perhaps this article will be helpful for you. Consider joining me in my home-based business. Work from the comfort of your own home. I echo author Jennifer Kushell when I say "Good Luck!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Coincidentally, while editing this message, Bob Beaudine was being interviewed on the NBC TODAY show (1/15/09, 9:45 A.M.). His new book "The Power of Who" covers--and expands upon--the above suggestions. (Available at Amazon for approximately $14.00.) I direct you to the first sentence of Open Yourself Up to New Opportunities (above). Bob emphasized the merit of contacting your friends and family; don't go-it-alone!! Consider me your friend.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here's a 1/16/09 postscript: If you are looking for work--and you are using the Internet--you have probably received a message similar to the following (just below this paragraph). In my humble opinion, it's impossible to make that kind of money taking surveys. For months I took every survey that arrived in my e-mail. The more I took, the more that arrived. I did not receive a single penny!! I really "worked" on surveys!! Caveat emptor.

Jobs To Do From Home, from Money Making Tips

Can you really make $150 an hour performing simple jobs from home? The truth is that answering online surveys and participating in market research can be surprisingly profitable. Some companies running focus groups will indeed pay $150 per hour, and $75 an hour is not at all uncommon.

We have researched and reviewed some of these companies, and we provide our recommendations for ones we think can realistically get you jobs answering surveys from home, or participating in other market research projects. You may not make $150 an hour every time, but you definitely can earn thousands of dollars per month, if you're willing to treat taking surveys like a real job. (I treated it like a real job!!)

Most People Get it Wrong....

"Most people get it wrong. Their thoughts reflect their life. When things are going badly, their thoughts are negative. And it's only when good is heaped upon them that they think positively. As difficult as it may be, find it within yourself to guide your life through your thoughts. The special people who can do just that can weather any storm and create the life of their thoughts — which is the life of their dreams." Dr. Robert Schuller

That statement rang true with me. My thoughts were negative over the holidays so I perceived that my days were going badly (or was it visa-verse?). With Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's behind me, I'm feeling very positive and my business has accelerated!!

I'm busy working on my web site, e-mail accounts, etc.--behind the scenes--so this is my brief appearance for the day. Some days I rarely leave the computer!! Although I've been using a computer for over twenty-five years, the new (to me) features are awesome!! Google AdWords, Google AdSense, StatCounter (statistics), Webinars with valuable information about growing a network marketing business, etc., etc.

FTC Threatens Christian Church with Imprisonment for Selling Dietary Supplements

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, January 13, 2009

The FTC has unleashed a new assault against both dietary supplements and religious freedoms by targeting a Christian church for termination. Through exclusive interviews and conversations with health freedom attorney Jim Turner (http://www.naturalnews.com/Index-Podcas...), NaturalNews has learned that the church Daniel Chapter One (http://www.DanielChapterOne.com/) has been targeted by the FTC for destruction.

Throughout 2008, the FTC has been on a free speech rampage, sending threatening demands to 130 companies selling dietary supplements. It has specifically targeted organizations selling anti-cancer dietary supplements.... Read the entire story, and linked articles, at http://www.naturalnews.com/025303.html . Friend reader, we need to be concerned because our rights ARE being stripped away!!

I Love to Travel !!

This is a detour from my usual "blog." In fact, the following (probably written in late June 2008) precedes creation of this "blog." Read the story, it explains a lot. Truthfully, I did not make a single penny as a distributor!! I ended up with more bottles of Ethos (fuel reformulator) than I will ever use (but I continue to use in my KIA Sportage). I cancelled my distributorship many months ago. Imagine my surprise when the company started billing me again!! Just for the record, I copied the story from my Ethos web site (before it goes "dark" forever) and posted it here just in case someone might be interested. The picture along the left side of this "blog" accompanied the narrative at the previous web site. For more details about Ethos visit http://ForEarthOnline.com/lee or (if that fails) http://www.ForEarthOnline.com/lu .

My Story

To write my story would resemble an encyclopedia!! Initially I will confess that I am a "senior citizen." I'm old enough to be eligible for AARP (ha!) and I'm receiving retirement benefits from Los Angeles County. I'm a recent "transplant" from Southern California to beautiful North Carolina.

I want you to know that I love to travel !! Over many years I have owned a variety of recreation vehicles. This time last year I was driving a beautiful, reliable, Dodge mini-motorhome. For several trips, it carried me comfortably, and safely, across the U.S. It provided lodging for extended periods of time.

The RV sat forlornly in the parking lot of the apartment complex while I worked at a job I dearly loved. (Working because I wanted to, not because I "had" to.) I hadn't planned to sell the RV but I was approached by a couple who would not take "no" for an answer. I bawled when my Dodge "traveling companion" (of many years) left the area without me!!

My circumstances changed; my desire to travel was begging for attention. In March I purchased a Little Guy Silver Shadow Teardrop trailer. (See them at http://www.GoLittleGuy.com/.) Incidentally, the picture (above) is not flattering; the trailer should appear a little taller and I should look a little thinner. Really!! The good looking man is one of the owners of the company. (Regrettably, I'm inept when it comes to the art of cropping digital photos [and other enhancements] required to post a picture on this web site.) As the weather got warmer, I made plans to visit attractions in North and South Carolina. I hoped to see other areas along the East Coast and in "the South."

The unfortunate (for all of us) hike in gasoline prices curtailed my plans!! The only traveling I experienced was via the Internet. I was delighted to read about Ethos. Without hesitation I ordered the product. I've resumed my travels--and I'm enthusiastic about sharing Ethos with fellow motorist' and friends.

Please call, or e-mail, me if you have questions.

Lorraine here to add this postscript: I did travel with the little trailer last year and plan to use it frequently in 2009 (as weather permits). Yes, it looks small but I can comfortably crawl in, and out. It sure saves on hotel expense!! I don't spend the night in an expensive RV park, I park in Wal-Mart parking lots!!

Forrest Gump Explains the Mortgage Mess

The following came to me as an e-mail message. Of course (you know how it is) the type was huge, and lots of space between the comments. This doesn't have the "eye appeal" but I thought the content worth sharing.

This is the best explanation I've heard. (Their words, not mine.)

Mortgage Backed Securities are like boxes of chocolates. Criminals on Wall Street stole a few chocolates from the boxes and replaced them with turds. Their criminal buddies at Standard & Poor rated these boxes AAA Investment Grade chocolates. These boxes were then sold all over the world to investors. Eventually somebody bites into a turd and discovers the crime. Suddenly nobody trusts American chocolates anymore worldwide.

Hank Paulson now wants the American taxpayers to buy up and hold all these boxes of turd-infested chocolates for $700 billion dollars until the market for turds returns to normal. Meanwhile, Hank's buddies, the Wall Street criminals who stole all the good chocolates are not being investigated, arrested, or indicted.

Mama always said: 'Sniff the chocolates first, Forrest'.

Quote of the day from a fund manager:

"This is worse than a divorce... I've lost half of my net worth and I still have my wife.."

The bailout, a different perspective:

Back in 1990, the Government seized the Mustang Ranch brothel in Nevada for tax evasion and, as required by law, tried to run it. They failed and it closed. Now we are trusting the economy of our country to a pack of nit-wits who couldn't make money running a whore house and selling booze?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lorraine here with this comment: Remember the news man in a movie many years ago that shouted "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it any more!"??
I Want My Bailout Money
Honestly, I'm not fond of "rap" or "hip hop" music but you have to listen to this song by Michael Adams, the Health Ranger, Editor of Natural News.
Postscript, 1/21/2009: "I Want My Bailout Money" Song Exceeds 50,000 Views on YouTube, 200,000+ Downloads.
Bet you didn't hear this on major news broadcasts.
Is "lipo" the best way to slim down?
Is lipo the best way to slim down? copied from Ideal Bite
Fat chance. There are more natural ways than lipo and noxious pills to narrow your waistline this year, such as exercising and taking natural supplements. Just start with realistic expectations...almost no one is made for size 00 duds.
The Benefits
Trimming down. Whether for health or body image reasons, you can slim down naturally.
Slender chances of bad side effects. Conventional prescription and over-the-counter drugs like Ephedra sometimes cause high blood pressure, insomnia, and strokes.
Weighty cash savings. A 30-day supply of the prescription weight-loss drug Meridia costs $120, while most of our natural suggestions cost pennies per serving or dose....
Wanna Try?
Get Outside, Take the Stairs, and Walk More--getting physical is a tried-and-true way to get fit.
Drink Green Tea - burn as many as 70 additional calories per day by drinking green tea, thanks to its metabolism-enhancing effect.
Eat Breakfast - just do it. People who eat breakfast are less likely to overeat during the day.
Eat Grapefruit - in addition to helping combat diabetes, an '04 study found grapefruit helps metabolize sugar.
Eat Seaweed - seaweed's iodine keeps your weight-regulating thyroid gland in tip-top shape.
Get Your Calcium - the more calcium there is in a fat cell, the more fat it'll burn. Choose a supplement with vitamin D to help your body absorb it ($4).
Get Glucomannan - plant-based, hi-fiber supplement that helps you lose weight by making you feel full ($9).
Get Pyruvate-d - a naturally occurring acid found in foods such as dark beer and red apples; it's been shown to aid weight loss by increasing metabolism ($9).
Spice Up Your Life - add cayenne pepper to your dishes for a metabolic boost.
I'll be honest: This is another short message because I was away from home most of the day. Emissions check, tune-up, oil change, new windshield wipers, etc., on my KIA. Starting the New Year on the right foot [ha!]. Speaking of "foot": I've been doing more walking (as the weather permits). And you? Are you getting your exercise? I'm taking my nutritional supplement, Max N-Fuze, and weight loss accelerator, MaxWLX, too. See http://SeniorSecurity.MaxTrax4u.com/
Don't wanna give up meat altogether?
Copied from Ideal Bite
Try for a happy medium - go meatless at least once a week for ginormous environmental and health benefits, without compromising your taste for the occasional sustainably raised burger.
The Benefits
More-than-middling health payoffs. Compared to meat eaters, vegetarians have lower rates of diabetes, heart disease, certain cancers, and obesity. Coming together for the planet. Livestock accounts for 18% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions and 8% of water use - and a meatless diet is 50% more effective at cutting CO2 than switching from a standard car to a hybrid.
Wanna Try?
Try cutting out meat one day a week. Meat substitutes and eco-focused cookbooks make it easier. 101 Reasons Why I'm a Vegetarian - facts to help you stick with it ($3).
For me [Lorraine] the long range health benefits of a vegan diet far outdistance the short-lived pleasure of meat with my meal. In My Humble Opinion!! If, perchance, I may be deficient in some nutrients (and I question that arguement) I take a nutritional supplement called Max N-Fuze. Visit my web site for details: http://seniorsecurity.maxtrax4u.com/ .
